I get a lot of private messages when I am in-game asking me about game features. Questions that I should not have to answer if only gamers would READ!
First, there is an in-game help function that can be accessed by typing “L” or “Alt + L”. That already takes care of more than half of the the question right there especially the ones about gameplay.
Second, people asking me what to do with certain quests when the quest description clearly states what needs to be done. There are very few quests that do not have the coordinates for the NPC that you need to talk to. So far I only count 2 such quests.
Third, people ask me where X monster is. The quest description gives you a general idea of where the monster should be. Hunt for them! I also go through these quests and I bust my ass looking for these monsters. That’s part of the challenge people!
If gamers could only learn how to read, then the PMs I get in game would be the ones greeting me, those wishing me a nice day, bug reports, name violations, etc. In short I’d be getting community messages and the reports that matter.
If gamers learn how to read it would make life so much easier.

I so totally agree. Gamers shoudl learn how to read.

A lot of people ask me questions about quests and monster locations, too. And it’s quite irritating specially when instructions can be found at the quest details. I can’t imagine the volume of pm’s you get…

@ Necro
To give you an idea, sometimes all I see is pink.

The pink screen hahahaa!

I myself am guilty of asking where X monster is or what-not regarding quests. But it’s not something we go asking Aodhan or Hororaim, we have experts within the guild who compile this and that information. I ask them.
Myself? My contributions regard crafting this and that item, where to find and source this and that material. What sort of plants and rocks gives this seed or that mineral. Features like disassembling and charms.
In the end, it’s working for what you want and improving the guild.

hehe.. as one of the RF guides.. some people just don’t care to ‘read’
May 28, 2007 at 6:43 pm
hahaha.. yeah.
me = [ read -> click next -> read -> check -> click next ] = yaaay…
?? = [ next -> next -> next -> ok -> ok -> check -> ??? -> ask -> ask ] = whaaat…
hahahah..

Good job on the blog, it isn’t flooded with ads like the rest of the LUG people *cough*

You can’t avoid not asking too–like the Bunthus something something (until today the name escapes me) that you have to kill for one of the quests. The quest desc. says that you have to kill scorpions, and I had to ask to make sure that I was killing the right thing; for all I know, there mimght be another area full of scorpions for the quest. Same with the Hunter Tiger Cat=Lynx; I looked (and some of my clanmates too) for a monster named Lynx.

@ alquanna
Those questions are okay. In fact I expect questions asking me about the wrong translations. THAT is a report that matters and I take notes to pass on to the rest of the PW Team.
It’s the spoon-feed crowd that floods my chat box. Sometimes in the flood I even get to miss the important stuff like that.
May 29, 2007 at 3:57 pm
Maam, what about the max character names? Medyo kulang naman ata un at sana dagdagan naman kahit 11 characters lng. If this question is already answered, sorry for the abala lng. ^_^V

LOL @ Caym’s comment

I’ll LOLed too, they really are taking advantage. It’s amusing how some people ride the PW hype/LUG traffic. *clap* I’ll click on the ads for those that do. Enjoy the $0.01-0.20 you make.
To not be off topic, I think the spoon-fed crowd makes up probably 80% of all gamers. They’re usually the people who follow guides and then cry when they get owned. Haha, guide boys. I’d change the title of this too “Noobs need to read” You aren’t a gamer if you can’t even get the basics. That’s the fun part, being a noob and learning the game.
About the stupid questions they ask, have you ever wondered maybe those asking you stupid questions aren’t really stupid and just really want your attention? Maybe someone leaked your picture and you have a lot of admirers? LOL ^^ (kidding, don’t wtfban me)
May 30, 2007 at 11:41 am
No. Gamers should learn how to PLAY. LOL.
If all they do is ask then just don’t play at all.

@ Cosmoslayer
Yes I know. My preferred name can’t fit either.
That should be changed by OB.
@ Caym
Yes, I considered that.

=)) Sometimes it transcends to IRL questions, which can become quite hilarious, but we should be able to tolerate them since they’re part of the community. The problem really is the education level of our gaming population, isn’t it?
June 5, 2007 at 9:19 am
I ignore any IRL questions that they throw at me. Answering those is not part of the job.
June 5, 2007 at 10:40 pm
They need to read and interact…
If i were to rate current PW community (in-game) -> 4/10
why?…
Greed
Some think only of killing and don’t bother reading the quest info.
Ask them questions, they ignore you. ( kahit alam nila kung nasaan )
Some demandingly ask questions and expects to be answered.
ask them to party for faster quest item hunt…
they won’t listen…
wew…
June 11, 2007 at 5:41 am
Yup everyone should. The thing is most of the “gamers” are paying by the minute and/ or 10 year olds who should be in school learning to read. Plus the instrutions are in english which is not the preferred language of the non reading crowd.
If any indication of the players that I see in the MASA cafes then there should be a tagalog/ guide.
June 11, 2007 at 9:15 pm
yah i believe most gamers should read nowadays!!! we should not be fully dependent on others who will provide every bit of information for us.
June 13, 2007 at 6:07 pm
how can i get into the game?i cannot log in..i know theres something i must DL again but not the setups..
June 13, 2007 at 10:04 pm
What are you talking about? You don’t need to download anything else aside from the client and the warp bug fix found on the boards.
July 10, 2007 at 12:16 am
Well, there are a lot of people that tends to ask a lot of questions and the answer is right in front of them. whenever I’m new in a game, I rarely ask questions. I will only ask it if I’m really really stuck. Some people when new in game tends to skip the tutorials part of the game. And then will bug you with questions. The tutorial is there to teach you the basics about the game. Anyway, can’t wait to try OB of PW. Hope to see you around. Don’t worry, I wont bug you with questions. Have a nice day.
